Many of our visitors have been asking after the health of our much loved Holm Oak ‘Climbing tree’, it’s been lovely to hear your precious memories of it down the years.

The Normanby team are working hard to preserve the tree. As many visitors will be aware the tree was damaged during high winds. Specialists have been removing the damaged branch to prevent any further splitting of the trunk and reducing the canopy to help re-balance the tree, minimising the chances of further damage in the future.

To protect the tree and for the health and safety of visitors, it will no longer be accessible to the public, and a protective fence will be erected.

In the longer term we have plans to collect and display family memories, celebrating the history of the tree. We will keep you updated with any further developments.
